Do you want to erase your winter doldrums? A great way to do this is to bring the tropics into your bedroom. Tropical decor can mean many things to different people. If you want to feel better about the fact it is wintertime, decorate your rooms in colors and images that will brighten your entire mood. Tropical bedding is a perfect place to start.
When you want to bring hot, tropical colors into your home, think bright orange for the sunsets, green for the palm trees and deep blue for the ocean. Mix them all together for a great island feel.
Images such as flowers and birds are wonderful choices for the tropical bed sets that are so popular. Hummingbirds and parrots and flamingos are perfect examples of tropical birds. Bright primary colors in the flowers add to the interest in the bedding.
If going tropical in your bedding reminds you of a school of fish you saw in the waters when you last went snorkeling on the reefs, you can get the same effect with bright yellows, blues and reds of tropical fish or in fish images on the bedding and accessories. When some people see the vibrant colors of reef fish, they remember instead the tranquil blue of the waters. You can get either effect in the bedding you choose.
Lighthouse are another image that is often related to the tropics. You get the colors of the ocean and the sky. If the lighthouse is framed by warm golden sands, there is a completely different effect. Sometimes a tropical sunset behind the lighthouse is representative of the beauty and tranquility in addition to the wild color options in the sky.
You might also find images of sailboats appealing. The tranquility that these boats represent is hard to beat. The deep blue of the ocean, the yellow of the sun, and red and white sails make you feel like you're floating away. You can have these color effects in your bedroom without the chance of seasickness.
How about adding images of seashells on your bedding sets? These can be scallops or more elaborate shell designs formed into images on the fabric. Some shell shaped edges are machine embroidered for a totally different tropical twist. Shell embroidering can be used on solid colors or prints. Some fabrics may also be embossed with a shell design.
